Type IV hyperlipoproteinemia in a consanguinous family.
نویسنده
چکیده
The involvement of all five offspring of consanguinous and hypertriglyceridemic parents (first cousins) is reported. Three sons and two daughters of this family have increased triglycerides, normal cholesterol, and normal or slightly increased phospholipids. Mother and elder daughter have abnormal glucose tolerance. Father and mother are hypertensive; father had recent development of myocardial infarction and gout. The two elder sons had myocardial infarction and repeated bouts of angina. All three male offspring of this family have gout and are being treated with xanthinoxidase inhibitor (allopurinol). Planiar xanthoma was present in one son with myocardial infarction. No chylomicronemia was noted. The response to diet and Atromid-S was satisfactory.

متن کاملPlatelet kinetic studies in patients with hyperlipoproteinemia: effects of clofibrate therapy.
Studies of platelet and fibrinogen kinetics in 27 patients with hyperlipoproteinemia and 28 control subjects demonstrated shortened platelet survival and increased platelet turnover in seven patients with type III and 10 patients with type IV-V hyperlipoproteinemia (p less than 0.01). There was no correlation between platelet survival time and specific lipid levels, vascular disease, sex or age...

Combined gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry with specific ion monitoring (mass fragmentography) has been used for assay of cholic acic (C), chenodeoxycholic acid (CD), and deoxycholic acid (D) in human serum. Deuterium-labeled C and D were used as internal standards. The relative standard deviation of duplicate samples was 3, 4, and 7% for C, CD, and D, respectively. The variation with...
متن کاملImpairment of the Diurnal Fibrinolytic Response in Man
Diurnal patterns of plasma euglobulin fibrinolytic activity, estimated by the fibrin plate method, were determined in groups of young normal and older normal subjects, in subjects with type IV hyperlipoproteinemia, and in subjects with coronary artery disease who had normal lipid profiles. The marked diumal increases in fibrinolytic activity observed in the young normal subjects were significan...
متن کاملApo E allele frequency in primary endogenous hypertriglyceridemia (type IV) with and without hyperapobetalipoproteinemia.
Apolipoprotein E polymorphism is responsible for the existence in the population of six apo E phenotypes determined by three alleles acting at a single gene locus. We have previously reported an enrichment in the epsilon 2 allele and the E2-bearing phenotypes in an unselected sample of subjects with primary hyperlipidemia consisting mainly of endogenous hypertriglyceridemia (Type IV). A study w...
